Don Jose's Grill Reviews (2)
Solid Mexican cuisine in Kenner
by busbeepbeep on 8/27/13
I was a diehard Casa Garcia customer, but after visiting Don Jose's, it's definitely earned a spot in my rotation. The chips are fresh, the salsa has great flavor, and they give you a large container so you can refill your own salsa bowls.

The menu is large and has a wide range of variety. The queso dip tastes fantastic. I usually get a house dinner plate which is a variety plate containing a burrito, a taco, a chalupa, beans and rice, and it all tasted really good.
My go to Tex-Mex from now on.

We tried this place the first week it opened. With no exaggeration I can say I have been back nearly a dozen times in the two and a half months since. It is good, well priced, has an excellent margarita. The house brand is Suaza so even if you get the regular house drink, you are getting a good quality tequila.
We take the kids a lot, because they are finicky eater, but the littlest thinks the enchiladas are the best thing ever, and both love the tacos and queso dip.

I too enjoy the enchiladas and various entrees. They have a very large menu and everything you expect to see in Tex Mex is there. The house salsa is very good and seasoned well. The location is known for changing hands a lot, but I have never seen a place here get packed like Don Jose, so I hope it stays. Much better than the other options, especially for families.
