Great Dining Experience
by Mr. Geaux on 10/14/10
My out-of-town guests rave about this place now. For appetizers, the group praised both the Sizzling Shrimp and the Grilled Beets with Goat Cheese. The Hanger Steak Tartar received less praise.
For the entrees, the highest praise went to several dishes including: the Halibut; Paneed Snapper (offered in place of the black drum); Kobe Beef special; and Bouillabaisse.
Service was excellent.
At $80 per person with drinks and tip, Lilette is pricey. While most entrees were less than $30, the Kobe Beef, which was a special and not listed on the menu, was a surprise at over $40. The price per person did not include dessert and coffee as we walked to Sucre after leaving Lilette.
Overall, I was very pleased with the dining experience.
Top ten in New Orleans, without a doubt
by Rickety Cricket on 4/3/10
An intimate uptown restaurant, Lilette is a can't miss for any New Orleans food aficionado. The quiet, low key atmosphere was extremely enjoyable and allowed me to concentrate on my meal and my friends, rather than other distractions. The wait staff is extremely knowledgeable and will pair you with a perfect wine for your meal. Lilette also offers a number of specialty cocktails that are original and delicious.
The escargot and the parmigiana toast are two great appetizer that I would recommend, and there are usually a number of daily specials. I had the hanger steak and also tried the brasciola, and both were delicious. I would imagine that there's not a bad thing on the menu. If you go, be sure to ask if they can whip you up a strawberry shortcake with passion fruit curd, it might just be the highlight of your meal.
