City Cafe: Great food and Live Music
by Captain Ron on 1/29/13
City Cafe (est 1919) is nestled on the corner of George O'Neal and O'Neal on the eastern outskirts of East Baton Rouge Parish. It serves traditional cafe style food, but also mixes in several Louisiana influenced dishes.
Do's: Try the Charbroiled Oysters as an appetizer or a full meal. Oysters broiled in a savory garlic butter concoction along with a small baked pistolette can start any meal off on the right foot.
Live music (Thurs-Sat) on their water cooled tin-roof patio can usher in a great weekend.

Been there for brunch a few times. All you can drink champagne for $4, yes please! I had the chicken and waffle special. They fry it in a pecan breading and top if with a frangelico pecan glaze or syrup. F'n good. The wife had a seafood omelet with crawfish, crab, shrimp, Jack cheese, and topped with a seafood sauce. I was told to come early if the saints are playing b/c it gets packed. They had 10 TVs so I coul see why.
