Acme Oyster House
3000 Veterans Blvd.
Metairie, LA 70005
Very Good Restaurant with Multiple Locations
by Mr. Geaux on 2/12/10
Judging by the constant line outside the French Quarter location, Acme is surely a tourist favorite. This establishment has maintained consistency over the years and has out-paced its nearby competitor in the Quarter.
If you don’t want to fight the lines and don’t mind dealing with the congestion near Causeway and Veterans, then Acme’s Metairie location is a good alternative for you. This location has much more seating, but you trade the old-world feel for the suburban atmosphere.
For a moderate sized and priced lunch, I always enjoy their half oyster po-boy with a cup of gumbo. They are normally very generous with the oysters which seem to be twice as many as needed to cover the French bread. The oysters are very good, although I prefer a little lighter batter. Service is good.

Everything at Acme is above par. If you ever have room for dessert (rare in my case) try the bread pudding, delicious.
A great family oyster house out in Metairie

The char grilled oysters are excellent. The oysters Rockefeller soup is delectable, but the best oyster dish in my opinion is the fried oysters, either on a platter or on a po-boy. Great place to stop by for lunch or dinner 7 days a week.
It is also a great place to watch a ball game at the wet bar with their 4 wide screen TVs. The bar drinks are excellent with great mixed drinks and huge draft beers.
