Cafe Rani is a little hard to find if you are driving along Magazine Street, but it is worth finding. On a nice day, when the tree is not shedding too much, it is pleasant to relax and dine in their outdoor area.
I have always had a good experience with lunch at Cafe Rani. However, for brunch you need to be more selective with your menu choices. For example, while I enjoy their Creole Omelet, I am not crazy about their Eggs Benedict (overcooked egg and little hollandaise sauce). Also, the choice of Cheese Grits for a side brings all the work of eating French onion soup but without the same reward. Even with these brunch issues, I enjoy Cafe Rani and will continue to dine there.
