Solid Neighborhood Restaurant

I've been going to Portobello's regularly for the past five years. It's our go-to place whenever someone suggests eating out tonight.
The menu is eclectic and includes grilled meats, seafood, Italian specialties, entrée salads, burgers and sandwiches, most priced between $15-$20. They do an excellent job on the seafood and usually have three or more choices beyond the ubiquitous tilapia and catfish. I give them credit for preserving (at least in name) that venerable Baton Rouge dish the sensation salad.
Service is professional and unobtrusive. I have actually seen servers being trained there by veteran staff.
Atmosphere is appealing with a row of booths and tables well spaced for privacy.
All in all, an excellent value. I wouldn't call it fine dining but it comes close, and without the attitude.

Giving Portobello's 4 stars on the strength of their lazania alone, some of the best I've ever had. Perfect ratios of meat, sausage, cheese, sauce, and pasta.
