Ristorante da Piero Reviews (1)
Excellent atmosphere and food
by Powerman on 4/4/11
Set in old town Kenner this is one of my new favorite restaurants in the New Orleans area after only two trips. My first trip was during lunch and then dinner with some friends on a Friday night.

The atmosphere is very calm in an old house adorned with many Catholic decorations. On Friday and Saturday nights there is an opera singer (which in our case turned out to be our server as well)

The cuisine is Northern Italian and some of the best I've had at pretty reasonable prices. For dinner our group ordered the carpaccio, bruschetta, Gnocchi con Gorgonzola, and the Anatra di San Giovanni Marignano (menu description is as follows: Molasses crusted Maple leaf duck with cultivated mushroom sauté, fried confit and raw goat cheese ravioli and onion marmalade.)

All of the food was great quality. I got to taste everything because we were all arguing over whose food tasted better and insisted that the others tried it as well. They have a good wine selection as well and a very tasty and light tiramisu. It seemed as if they used a different coffee liqueur than what most people use. I can't be sure but it was very good.

On a side note the chef apparently has a temper with some of his employees and they almost got in a knock down drag out fight in the front yard of the establishment. This might bother most people but it definitely added to the entertainment value for us. I'd recommend this as a great date or special occasion restaurant and definitely go when they have the opera singer.
